गणरायचं आगमनसाठी अख्खा महाराष्ट्र आता सज्ज झाला आहे. दोन दिवसांनी महाराष्ट्राचा विघ्नहर्ता घरात दाखल होणार आहे. आज लालबागच्या राजाचं पहिलं मुखदर्शन करण्यात आलं. लालबागचा राजा देश-विदेशातील असंख्य भक्तांचे श्रध्दास्थान बनले आहे. नवसाला पावणारा राजा अशी ख्याती दूरवर पसरली आहे. लालबागच्या राजाचे दर्शन घेण्यासाठी लाखोभक्त दरवर्षी गर्दी करत असतात. लोभस असं रूप डोळ्यात साठवून घेण्यासाठी भक्तांची ओढ लालबागच्या दिशेने लागते. आयबीएन लोकमतने सर्वात प्रथम ‘लालबागच्या राजाचं’ पहिले मुखदर्शन सर्व भक्तांसाठी या व्हिडिओच्या माध्यमातून देत आहे.

Ganesh Chaturthi is the only festival that involves and welcomes the participation of general public.

The preparation starts one month in advance, with great enthusiasm, to celebrate this auspicious occasion. The festival starts with the installation of beautifully sculpted Ganesha idols in homes and mandaps. These idols are decorated beautifully and show religious themes. The occasion also sees various cultural events being held every where, in which people participate with interest. After celebration, the time of farewell comes and the idol of the beloved God is immersed in water. The celebration ends with the immersion, accompanied by loud shouts of ‘Ganapati Bappa Moraya’

When Is Vinayak or Ganesh Chaturthi 2011?Ganesh Chaturthi aka Vinayak Chaturthi is one of the biggest festivals in the Hindu Calendar dedicated to Lord Ganesha. It is widely celebrated across India, especially in Maharashstra and Mumbai, and elsewhere around the world.

Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated as the Birth Anniversary of Lord Ganesha, the God of Wisdom and Prosperity. It falls on the fourth day of Bhadrapada, The festival of Ganesha Chaturthi is celebrated with lot of devotion and zest in all the parts of India but with particular interest in Mumbai. Approximately 6000 idols of Ganesha are commissioned for Ganesha Chaturthi in Mumbai alone.

The idol of Ganesha is installed at homes and temples and worshipped for ten days. On the last day, a grand procession is carried out and the idol is immersed in the water. Artists make many idols of Ganesha, big or small during the Ganesha Chaturthi. The houses are cleaned up before the idol of Ganesha is installed. The idol is brought home with face covered with a saffron cloth amidst chanting of shlokas.
