Tendulkar to go for precautionary MRI scan

Brisbane: Senior batsman Sachin Tendulkar is likely to go for a precautionary MRI scan on Monday after he was hit on his head by a sharply lifting delivery from Brett Lee while batting in the tri-series match against Australia here.

Tendulkar seemed to have misread the pace and lift of the final delivery of Lee`s second over, which hit the grill of his helmet and bounced off to mid-on where Xavier Doherty took the “catch”
Every Australian fielder went up in appeal, thinking they had their man, but umpire Steve Davis was convinced it hadn`t touched Tendulkar`s bat before striking his helmet at the Gabba on Sunday.

Apparently, some sort of blow from that delivery had also deflected on to Tendulkar`s forehead, above his right eye.

The batsman continued with his innings, which ended off the very next delivery he faced, in Ben Hilfenhaus` next over from the other end.
After his dismissal, Tendulkar was given ice treatment on the swelling in the dressing room, and even though he`s shown no discomfort, a precautionary MRI scan has been advised for him.

It capped a miserable day for the champion Indian batsman who was hit on his shin off an edged stroke from Peter Forrest in the slips in the 25th over of Australian innings and while batting, he made an unconvincing three off 12 balls as the visitors lost the match by a whopping 110 runs at the Gabba.

India win gold in Asian Grand Prix archery

Kolkata: India made a rich haul of one gold, three silver and a bronze medal in the individual section of the first Asian Grand Prix archery tournament at Bangkok Saturday.

Two teenage sensations, Chittibomma Jignas and National champion Rajat Chauhan, combined to give India 1-2 in the men`s compound event, according to information received here.

In an all-Indian final, the 18-year-old Services` archer subdued Chauhan in the tie-breaker after the two tied at 144-144. Both hit the bull`s eye but Jignas` arrow was found to be closer to the centre and gave him the second international gold after the silver he bagged at the third Asian Grand Prix at Dhaka in May last.

It was a remarkable show by Rajashtan boy Chauhan, who reached the final on his maiden international assignment, after having emerged national champion in all the three age groups: sub-junior, junior and senior in the same year.

In the semi-finals, Chauhan ousted Nguyen at 149-147 and Jignas eliminated compatriot Ritul Chatterjee 147-143.

It could have been a clean sweep by the Indians had Chatterjee not lost the bronze play-off to Nguyen Tien Cuong of Vietnam at 143-147.

India`s quest to win the most coveted events of all, the recurve division, did not come off. The country`s two final entries, Mangal Singh Champia and Chekrovolu Swuro, have not done well in individual events over the years. That they managed to win silver medals was indeed praiseworthy.

Champia came up against a vastly experienced Romain Girouille of France in the men`s recurve final where the two shared the five sets to tie the score at 5-5. In the one-arrow tie-breaker, the Frenchman shot a nine to the Indian`s eight in a touch and go contest.

Earlier, Champia won against Spain`s Elias Cuesta by 7-3 set points in the semifinals.

Chekrovolu, who held an upper hand in the women`s recurve final against Ren Hayakawa of Japan, erred at the beginning of the third set. After taking the first two sets and a commanding 4-0 set points, the Indian needed just one more set to win the gold. Chekrovolu`s first arrow of the third set hit the seven point ring which unnerved the Indian.

Ren shot a 10 and a nine to take the set. Chekrovolu cracked in the fourth set shooting 8,9,9 to her opponent`s 10,8,10. The deciding set was a touch and go affair with the confident Japanese winning it in the end.

In the semis, Chekrovolu edged past Urangungalag Bishindee of Mongolia in the tie-break after both shared the five sets to tie the set score at 5-5. In the tie-breaker, the Indian`s bull`s eye was found to be closer to the centre than the Mongolian`s shot.

Both the Indian entries in the women`s compound bowed out in the semi final. Jhano Hansdah lost to ultimate gold medal winner Aung Ngeain of Myanmar 142-145 and Gagandeep Kaur fell to silver medallist Nurfatehah Mat Salleh Fatin of Malaysia 141-143. In the battle for bronze, Jhano prevailed over her much younger opponent in the tie-breaker after a 139-139 tie. Jhano broke the stalemate by hitting the bull`s eye while Gagandeep collected only 8.

The team finals will be gone through Sunday.

Sehwag likely to miss Brisbane ODI against Australia

Brisbane: Virender Sehwag is unlikely to play against Australia on Sunday as reports suggested he is yet to recover fully from the back injury, which forced him to sit out of the match against Sri Lanka.

Senior batsman Sehwag is yet to find form in the series. India go in to the match on a high after finding the much needed boost after two victories and a tie against Sri Lanka that followed.

Australia, meanwhile, suddenly looked out of sorts with two losses back-to-back and the poor form of their explosive batsman David Warner is costing them dearly. After a superb performance in the Test series against India, Ricky Ponting has also been struggling in the ODIs. Ponting has only 11 runs from four innings at an average of 2.75 in the present series.

Meanwhile, India’s record in the last two ODIs at the Gabba would motivate the team. They have won their past two one-day internationals against Australia at the Gabba. However, Australia haven`t been beaten in Brisbane since that last loss to India, in March 2008.

Ravindra Jadeja hits $ 2 million jackpot

As the hammer went down at the Indian Premier League auction on Saturday morning, life came full circle for Ravindra Jadeja. A day after he put in a Man-of-the-Match performance to give India their first overseas win in any format after 16 games, the all-rounder became the most expensive player among those sold for season five of the lucrative Twenty20 league.
Jadeja is unlikely to indulge in any wild celebrations, however. At 23, the youngster has already experienced enough highs and lows in his career to know how quickly fortunes can change.

The spotlight shone rather early when, at just 19, Jadeja played a significant role when the unfancied Rajasthan Royals emerged as the surprise winners of the first edition of the IPL. A ringing endorsement came from his skipper Shane Warne, who termed the Saurashtra player a “superstar in the making.” There was enough reason to believe the Australian legend’s claim, as Jadeja had only months earlier displayed his promise when he was part of the 2008 Under-19 World Cup-winning Indian side.
When he followed it up with 739 runs and 42 wickets in nine matches for Saurashtra in the Ranji Trophy, finishing as the joint leading wicket-taker and sixth-highest run-scorer, the national selectors took notice as well. Jadeja earned his maiden call-up to India’s limited-overs side for the tour of Sri Lanka, scoring an unbeaten half-century in a losing cause in his debut game. Meanwhile, he performed even better for Rajasthan in the second season in 2009, top-scoring for the side with 295 runs in 13 matches while conceding less than 6.5 runs per over. For an Indian team that has struggled to fill the all-rounder’s spot since Kapil Dev, his skills in all three departments of the game – useful batting down the order, economical left-arm spin bowling and energetic fielding – offered hope.
A year later, though, it all came crashing down, as Jadeja found himself banned for a year from the very tournament in which he had first made his name, for trying to negotiate terms with another franchise while still under contract with Rajasthan. The left-armer was still selected for the 2010 World Twenty20, but a miserable return of just 9 runs and 2 wickets in four matches – in addition to his involvement in a brawl at a St. Lucia pub – soon saw him lose his place in the side to Yusuf Pathan.
Many a promising youngster has fallen by the wayside after such setbacks in Indian cricket, but Jadeja took the lessons to heart, responding with sheer grit, determination and hard work. There were solid performances for Saurashtra and later Kochi Tuskers Kerala, and when he finally returned to the ODI side after an injury jinx hit India in England last year, the much-improved all-rounder was one of the few bright spots for the visitors on a bleak tour.
Though still not a dead cert for the national side, Jadeja raised his stock even further by bringing cheer on another abject overseas tour in Australia. His two crucial run-outs and miserly bowling (he conceded just 5.33 runs in 3 overs) gave India a much-needed win in the second T20 International on Friday, and a day later he became only the fifth player in the IPL to cross the maximum price barrier.
This time, the backing has come from India captain MS Dhoni – also the skipper of the Chennai Super Kings franchise that has bought him – who admitted that Jadeja “looks more complete right now.” He also looks more assured – all his performances on return have come in difficult circumstances, but the patient all-rounder has displayed a composure, fortitude and maturity that is perhaps the result of lessons learnt from an early struggle few would have foreseen.
It’s been a long road back, but the perseverance is finally paying off for Ravindra Jadeja… And its value? $2 million.

EA Clarifies Online Pass Situation For SSX

EA Clarifies Online Pass Situation For SSX
EA has revealed a few details regarding the online pass for its upcoming SSX reboot and, in all honesty, it doesn’t sound too bad.

In a statement to GameInformer, the publisher revealed players can compete in the game’s two online modes without a pass, but said credits earned during will not be awarded unless an online code has been redeemed.

All new copies of the game will include an online pass, whilst those buying pre-owned copies are likely to have to fork out $10 for a new code.

SSX is set to hit PS3 and Xbox 360 on February 28 in North America and March 2 across Europe. Let’s hope this type of online pass comes into use more often.

EA released the official x games tv spot trailer for “SSX Deadly Deadly Descents” coming February 28, 2012 to Xbox 360, and PS3.

Game Description: Redefining the franchise, SSX pits riders against both mountain and man. Players explore the story of a team who seek to be the first to descend the faces of the most treacherous mountain ranges on the planet. The team travels the world to face the worst that Mother Nature can throw at them. From the peaks of the Himalayas, where the air is so thin that riders have to descend through the death zone at breakneck speeds to keep from blacking out, to the solid ice ranges of Antarctica, where a sunlit line is the only survival option when temperatures drop 50 degrees centigrade in the shade. And the mountain isn’t the only danger players will face. In SSX the first goal is to survive. The second, in true SSX fashion, is to look good doing it.

What is Go-Karting?|Go-Karting

Go-Karting involves driving open-wheeled vehicles, usually around a circuit. It is a great way to get into motor sports, as Go-Karts tend to be easy to drive. There are just two pedals to drive – the accelerator (to speed up) and the brake (to slow down and stop).
If you have never actually seen a Go-Kart before, they are open-wheeled vehicles (with four wheels) that sit very close to the ground. This means that unlike a normal car, you have to sit very close to the ground. This can feel strange at first, but it is something that you quickly get used to.

As well as the base being closer to the ground, Go-Karts are also open to the elements, as there is no front, back, sides or roof to protect you in bad weather, or if you are involved in an accident.

Go-Karts have a low centre of gravity (due to being so close to the ground), which makes it much more likely that you will merely spin, rather than flip over, so the dangers are actually minimal.

You are given a full safety briefing before you are allowed to get into the Go-Kart, as well as five minutes practice to get used to the Go-Kart before you encounter other people on the same track.

Google’s 10 Most-Searched Games of 2011 | Can you name the Most searched things on Google in 2011?

Google’s 10 Most-Searched Games of 2011
Google’s most searched games?

Google, overlord of the internet and everything else, has made public every term searched with their engine along with the searcher’s identity and a handy address book for quick referencing. Just kidding, but if your heart just skipped a beat, turn on safesearch and stop being creepy.

What Google has actually done is release the most searched for terms of 2011, and relevant to our interests, the top ten searched gaming terms for the year. While a lot of the list may not surprise you, such as Activision mainstays Black Ops and Call of Duty, what will surprise most are blockbusters like Skyrim and Battlefield 3 coming in 6th and 7th respectively, behind the likes of Halo: Reach and Super Mario. Perhaps most puzzling, Modern Warfare didn’t make the list at all.

The number one online game search is “wow”, but this result could be fudged by the less computer-literate (read: elderly) using Google to look for entertainment.

As a final fun fact, Diablo 3 and Mass Effect 3 are the only two games on the list that haven’t released yet, as they’re both planned for 2012 launches.
