UNION PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION Special Class Apprentices Recruitment in Mechanical Department of Indian Railways
An examination for selection of candidates for appointment as Special Class Apprentices in Mechanical Department of Indian Railways will be held by the Union Public Service Commission on 20th January,2013.
Qualification:
For admission to the examination a candidate–
(a) must have passed in the first or second division, the intermediate or an equivalent Examination of a University or Board approved by the Government of India with Mathematics and at least
one of the subjects Physics and Chemistry as subjects of the examination.
Graduates with Mathematics and at least one of the subjects Physics and Chemistry as their degree subjects may also apply.
The Candidates applying for the examination should ensure that they fulfill all eligibility
conditions for admission to the examination. Their admission at all the stages of the
examination will be purely provisional subject to satisfying the prescribed eligibility
conditions.
Mere issue of admission certificate to the candidate will not imply that his/her candidature has been finally cleared by the Commission.
Verification of eligibility conditions with reference to original documents is taken up only after the candidate has qualified for Interview/Personality Test.
Application Fee:Candidates (excepting female/SC/ST/PH candidates who are exempted from payment of fee) are required to pay a fee of Rs. 100/- (Rupees one Hundred only) either by depositing the money in any Branch of SBI by Cash, or by using net
banking facility of SBI.
Last date of Applications:
The Online Application can be filled upto 12th November, 2012 after which the link will be disabled.
Age Limit : 17 years to 21 years
How To Apply:
Candidates are required to apply online by using the website
http://upsconline.nic.in/. No other mode is accepted.
The eligible candidates shall be issued an e-Admission Certificate three weeks before the commencement of the examination. The e-Admission Certificate will be made available on the UPSC website [www.upsc.gov.in] for being downloaded by candidates. No Admission Certificate will be sent by post. All the applicants are required to provide valid & active e-mail i.d., while filling up Online application form as the Commission may use electronic mode for contacting them.
SCHEME OF EXAMINATION:
The Examination shall be conducted according to the following plan.
Part I Written Examination carrying a maximum of 600 marks
Part II Personality Test carrying a maximum of 200 marks

9. WITHDRAWAL OF APPLICATIONS :
No request for withdrawal of candidature received from a candidate after he/she has submitted his/her application will be
entertained under any circumstances.

of Apprenticeship, Special Instructions to Candidates for Objective Type Tests are given in Appendices I, II, III and IV respectively.
Written Examination Paper
Paper-I General Ability Test (English, General Knowledge and Psychological Test)- 2 Hours 200 marks
Paper-II Physical Sciences (Physics and Chemistry)- 2 Hours 200 marks
Paper-III Mathematics – 2 Hours 200 marks
Total Marks 600
