Academic scenario of Chennai, the SRM University has opened up a new horizon. Inception seed of this university germinated in 1968, with foundation of Florence Nightingale Primary School by Mr. T.R. Pachamuthu, the founding chairman of the SRM Group. Since 1985, the SRM University started spreading its wings by establishing the SRM Engineering College in Kattankulathur and in the forthcoming years this institution kept on opening various centers but in 2003-04, this organization received the status of SRM Deemed University by the Ministry of Human Resources and Development, Government of India.
