Maruti is gearing up to introduce an all new 800cc car that could potentially be a replacement for the Maruti 800. Faced with declining market share and falling sales of the best seller Alto, the company has already started testing the new car that certainly will be more fuel efficient and technologically advanced, but more expensive than the Alto.

the prices of M800 varies between Rs.2.05 lakh and Rs.2.30 lakh, while that of Alto stands at Rs.2.40-3.43 lakh. A 1,000cc variant of the Alto is priced at Rs.3.14-3.31 lakh. All the prices are for ex-showroom, Delhi.

Rumours had it that the new ultra low cost car from Maruti would be the Cervo. However, it’s almost certain by now that Maruti has no plans to bring Cervo to India and the new 800cc car will be called the Alto 800.

According to sources close to the development, the company will start commercial production of the new 800cc car at its Gurgaon plant from July or August and will launch it by Diwali

Maruti (in fact, media) has been tantalizing us for quite a while with the prospect of launching the ultra small car Cervo. Although a senior official from Maruti Suzuki has confirmed that “the work on the car is going on and the company is planning to launch it before Diwali,” there is no guarantee that the new car is going to be in the same shape that you see in these pictures. Maruti Suzuki Ertiga to be launched April 2012 | Ertiga Pics, Review & Price in India

MSI is turning to the multi-purpose vehicle segment with its upcoming model Ertiga, as it looks to complete its portfolio of passenger vehicles.

The vehicle will witness its global launch next month in India that has seen an investment of about Rs 400 crore by the company as development cost. The company claims that the petrol variant delivers a fuel economy of 16.02 kmpl and the diesel one gives 20.77 kmpl.

Maruti Suzuki will be launching the Ertiga MPV on the 11th of April 2012. The Japanese automaker is currently conducting media drives for select media in Goa, while at the same time shooting the TV commercial of the upcoming MPV in Delhi. The above Maruti Ertiga was spotted at a traffic signal in Delhi, with a video camera fitted inside the car. There was a model with a child on the rear seat and an elderly women on the front seat. Ironically there was a Toyota Innova right next to the Ertiga MPV.

Ertiga, which is expected to start around Rs. 6.5 lakhs for the base petrol LXi and going up all the way to Rs. 9.5 lakhs for the top-end diesel ZDI (all price estimated are ex-showroom, Delhi). There is very little to guess then, that the Ertiga MPV will repeat the success story of the Swift and will command a waiting period within a few days of launch.

Auto maker Mahindra & Mahindra has introduced new features in its multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) Xylo. Its price has also been raised by Rs 15,000.

Xylo’s 2012 version comes at a price of Rs 7.37 lakh exshowroom in New Delhi.

Xylo now comes with a Mhawk engine in top end E9 model and voice command technology (VCT) for vehicle control.

The MPV now sports new changes in its exteriors. It now comes with a new front grille, bonnet design with integrated Mahindra logo, new headlamps, chrome accents, black footstep, sporty roof rails and sporty illuminated spoiler.

Bajaj Pulsar 200NS, the best middle-class sports bike unveiled
Leading motorcycle player Bajaj Auto on Monday unveiled a new model of its popular bike brand Pulsar.

“The Bajaj Pulsar 200NS is best middle-class sports bike. It will be commercially launched beginning next fiscal through 600 dealers across the country. The price is expected to be below Rs 1 lakh,” Bajaj Auto Managing Director Rajiv Bajaj told reporters here.

The model will have cutting-edge engine which sets new benchmarks in performance, emission and incidentally, also fuel efficiency, Bajaj Auto Chief Technology Officer Abraham Joseph said.
DTS-i (Digital Twin Spark-ignition) technology, introduced in 2003, to another level with a SOHC 4-valve triple spark engine controlled by an advanced electronic control unit for better performance.

The bike has liquid cooling and a six speed gear box. The Pulsar will be manufactured at the company’s plant at Chakan near Pune, which has a capacity of producing 1,00,000 units per month, Joseph said.

French automaker Renault recently entered India’s compact car segment with the launch of the Pulse priced between Rs.5.77 lakh and Rs.6.25 lakh.

The car, available in two variants – RxL and RxZ, is powered by a locally manufactured Renault K9K diesel engine, coupled with a five-speed manual transmission.

The Renualt Pulse will be available with a 1.5 dCi engine and claims to deliver 23.08 km per litre.

The company also unveiled its crossover car Duster at the Auto Expo. The crossover Duster, which combines the features of a sedan and a sport utility vehicle (SUV), will be manufactured in India and will be available in petrol and diesel variants. The company said that it would launch the vehicle in the second half of 2012.

With the launch of Duster, the company has four products across a broad spectrum to ensure that it has a wide reach and caters to a wide range of customers, including its existing product line up – the luxury sedan Fluence and SUV Koleos.

Renault India also plans to launch a complete portfolio of five new products before the end of 2012.
