Petrol price likely to rise by 2 Rs in 2012

Petrol price likely to rise by 2 Rs in 2012

State-run oil firms plan to raise petrol prices by about Rs 2.25 a litre from Sunday unless the government asks them to defer the move in view of assembly elections, company executives said.

Oil companies revise petrol prices every two weeks but in the middle of this month, the government told state firms to refrain from any increase as the move could cause uproar during the winter session of Parliament. As a result, the price rise would be relatively steeper as oil firms need to make up for the losses, they said.

1. Introduction 1.1
Programme of Action (PoA), 1992 under the National Policy on Education (NPE), 1986 envisagedconduct of a common entrance examination on all India basis for admission to professional and technicalprogrammes in the country. For admission to Engineering and Architecture/Planning programmes,Government of India vide Resolution dated 18th October 2001 has laid down a Three – Exam Scheme(JEE and AIEEE at the National Level and the State Level Engineering Entrance Examinations (SLEEE)for State Level Institutions – with an option to join AIEEE). This takes care of varying admission standardsin these programmes and helps in maintenance of professional standards. This also solves problems ofoverlaps and reduces physical, mental and financial burden on students and their parents due tomultiplicity of entrance examinations.
